Māori Culture, Rawiri Waititi & David Seymour | Prophetic Update 11

Note: You can watch the video version here, or continue reading the written version below.

Today is Friday 21 February 2025.

This is the 11th update in a story for NZ that we’ve been walking out together since 2021.

And in this one, we’re going to look at prophetic words regarding Maori culture, Rawiri Waititi, David Seymour, and then some specific prayer points for the Body to consider together.

As with all these updates, test them for yourself, seek the Lord about them, and allow Him to guide your response here–don’t just accept them because I’m sharing them.

"Do not despise prophecies, but test all things." (1 Thessalonians 5:20)

Māori Culture

Back in 2021, we publicly shared a word about Māori culture being "revived, sanctified, and more widely cherished" (Oct 2021) – watch it here

Then in March 2022, we shared another about justice to the Treaty of Waitangi, along with the exposing of bribery, deceit, and betrayal within, both, Waitangi and Govt (Mar 2022) – watch it here and here

Then last year November 2024, we saw this conversation regarding Māori more and more, particularly with the things like the Treaty Principles bill, the Haka in Parliament and the Hikoi.

At that time, I was asked from numerous people if I had any thoughts to share, as the words from 2021 seemed to be coming more and more to light.

So on Novemberr 14 2024, I shared some of my thoughts on my blog here, as well as mentioning a word from June 2024 that I didn’t yet have the permission to share.

Today, I have grace and permission to share it with you.

I have been sitting with this word since June 2024.

As always, I shared it with mature leaders and friends at that time for accountability, because I always want to handle these things with reverence, especially with the amount of misuse and abuse we see in the prophetic space.

Māori Culture & Covenant Restoration

June 2 2024

There is both injustice and betrayal of covenant in NZ. But the path to redemption, reconciliation and restoration transcends our natural reasoning—because it was a covenant of sacred weight, and one that transcends natural reasoning.

The attempt we are seeing today to restore Māori culture and covenant will fail because its roots and foundations are impure. They don’t necessarily have evil hearts, but misplaced hope that has given room for destructive zeal.

Many will be fractured by this.

Many thought this was the way.

But many did not discern the tree they were eating from.

Rawiri Waititi was actually chosen to be a part of the pioneering of Gods transcending path, but he has been hoodwinked, and has given into the perversion of those close to him – including his party.

Pray that his heart would open to a deep encounter with the God of nations, and that he would humble himself to Gods wisdom and reverence.

If he does, he will be like a Nebuchadnezzar that will radically and swiftly experience a change of path.

If he does not, his window of opportunity to fulfill that which he was chosen to do will close, and many will be fractured.

But…

The God of nations is glorious at bringing beauty from ashes, that the embers from this current uproar and zeal will ignite a greater purity in those who are pioneering the restoration of covenant and culture.

The traits of those who are pioneering the restoration, sanctification, and kingdom expression of Māori culture and covenant will be marked by humility, honor, and hope.

In many ways they will seem unassuming. But the depth of substance which they carry will silence a room when they enter.

Their voice will pierce hearts, not because of their choice of words, but because of the weight and spirit behind their words.

These individuals have already been prepared in quiet, hiddenness, and at grassroots. And now they are being positioned to be revealed.

“Māori culture will be revived, sanctified and more widely cherished” – (Oct 2021)

And it will happen Gods way, not ours. His way transcends our natural reasoning, in the same way that Agape did on the cross.

– End

Thoughts

From this word, I have been praying for Rawiri, and that He would encounter the depths of Gods love for Him. I have also been praying for the hidden ones, the unassuming ones, and the restoration of covenant and culture they are pioneering, it's very exciting.

From this word, it says there is going to be a fracturing.

My hunch is that the fracturing is going to be both within the party, which could look like splits, resignations, disqualification, and even dismissals.

Unfortunately, there will also be a fracturing among the people.

I'm also keeping an ear out on Waitangi, Iwi and Māori related sectors: places like the Waitangi tribunal, Marae's, and I wouldn't be surprised if we begin to see some sobering truth come from these places more and more.

The attempt we are seeing today for justice and restoration, is not the way God is going to do it.

Instead, it’s almost like a hijack or an attempt by the enemy to take what God is doing, and distort it to fool the people. It’s part of the hoodwink.

It's been hard to see the division and separatism, and even the celebration of it on all sides.

Division has a sneaky way of showing up in different forms but it’s the same tactic—pulling people apart while pretending to bring them together.

And when division is cloaked like this, it’s especially dangerous because it catches us off guard, plays on our emotions, and leads to confusion.

Without a Kingdom perspective—in any area of life—we can end up in cycles of awareness and blindness, and that only adds to our frustration and pain.

The key is staying aligned with Heaven.

Col 3:2 says, "set your mind on the things above not on the things below."

This doesn't make you ignorant, it makes you more aware because you're viewing these events from an eternal and higher perspective.

So don’t be so earthly minded that you are no heavenly good. And don’t be so heavenly minded that you are no earthly good. It’s not either/or, it’s both/and.

When we keep our eyes and hearts set to what God is saying, that’s where clarity, wisdom and peace come from.

Our ways are always limited, fragile and hurtful.

His ways are always full of honor, healing and hope for all people, without degrading or dishonoring another.

So although there will be a fracturing, and sobering revelations and truths, it will not stop the restoration of covenant and culture that God is doing among the Maori and in NZ, and much of that is happening in hiddenness and at a grassroots level right now.

David Seymour

To throw a spanner in the works, here's what somebody randomly shared with us back in Feb 2024 at our gathering.

I have no position on this word right now, and I'm not particularly a fan of David – I remember what he said about Christians and non-jabbed back in 2022. I’m also not a fan of some of some of the policies he has advocated over the years.

But it reminds me to always be slow to speak and quick to go to God first before settling in my offenses, and that’s not always easy for me.

A mentor once told me: “sometimes God will offend the mind to get to the heart.”

Sometimes God will put things in places or people that naturally offend us, to see how truly hungry we are for him or not. To see how much we’re truly seeking Him or not.

Scripture has shown many times how God will use the foolish things of the world and even the most unlikely individuals to His glory.

And what this can often reveal is how easily we can put our political lenses before a kingdom lens, or our cultural/societal lenses before a kingdom lens, instead of viewing politics, culture—and all life—through the transcendent lens of the kingdom.

It also reminded me of the prophetic word we shared in that same Oct 2021 video here that said:

"People whom we thought good will be found not. And those whom we thought bad will be found not. Not all are as they appear to be in the public eye."

So again, I have no position on this word regarding David Seymour right now.

I'm simply observing everything, looking back to the words shared so far, and seeking my good Fathers perspective on it all – especially because this shift is global.

So let’s see what happens.

Nonetheless...

"Māori culture will be revived, sanctified and more widely cherished." (Oct 2021)

Gods vision for Māori & NZ is beautifully redemptive, and it will be a light to the world that many will come to see and be blessed by.

But it will happen His way, not ours.

Activism and Protests

I’ve seen more protests in the last 5 years than at anytime in my life.

  • Covid

  • BLM

  • Climate change

  • Pro-Palestine

  • Treaty Principles Bill

  • Even the recent Presidents Day

In a time filled with activism and injustice, it’s easy to get caught up in the energy of the fight. I have myself.

But are we playing the wrong game?

Here’s the truth: we can become the very thing we oppose—just under a different label. It’s the same pendulum, just the opposite side.

But Jesus played an entirely different game.

The Jews expected Him to overthrow Rome—their oppressors. But instead, He laid down His life and was crucified.

Why? Because He came to win a victory—not by the world’s standards, but by a different world’s standards.

That’s our example.

And so what would it look like for us to follow that example?

Much activism is driven by the same energy it's trying to fight, only perpetuating the cycle and fueling the very thing they oppose.

And the result is temporary wins, only for the same issue to later resurface. It’s like cutting the fruit off a tree without addressing the root—it always grows back.

This is why so many human efforts at change—whether political, social, or cultural—fail to last, because it’s based on power, not love, specifically agape love.

Agape love, not force, is the only power that can break the cycle of oppression and injustice and bring lasting change.

Activism has its place, but the lasting impact depends on the heart behind them.

When rooted in God’s love, it brings real transformation.

Agape doesn’t mean endorsing injustice or doing nothing.

Jesus’ surrender on the cross wasn’t passive, it was a deliberate act that destroyed the power of sin. And Jesus knew that true change starts from within–the human heart.

His mission wasn’t just to change the world’s systems, but to change hearts. And by changing our hearts with agape, we would then become salt, light and leaven in society, and naturally change systems.

The fundamental issue in society is not the government. Rather, it’s the spiritual condition of the people within that nation.

And this is wisdom of the Kingdom.

In the kingdom:

  • You die to live.

  • You give to gain.

  • You go down to go up.

  • You humble yourself to be exalted.

  • You lose your life to find it.

  • You serve to be great.

  • You serve to lead.

It’s the upside-down nature of the Kingdom that defies logic. It doesn’t make sense to the natural mind or even the religious mind.

Yet it is the way of agape—the way of heaven.

Instead of engaging in endless cycles of conflict, we’re invited to live by the wisdom of Heaven—where love triumphs over hate, humility over pride, and forgiveness over revenge.

It’s not easy, I get it, and few choose it.

But when we do, we stop playing the world’s game and start living in the victory Jesus already won.

This doesn’t mean we stop engaging with issues—it means we engage differently.

Focusing on agape isn’t avoidance—it’s engaging at the deepest level and deals to the root issues that human effort can’t.

And when individuals are transformed by God’s love, they bring that love into every sphere of influence—family, workplaces, communities, and even systems.

We can never heal, fix or save ourselves – that's why we need a Savior. And not just for salvation, but for every aspect of life.

Jesus showed us a better way—one that focuses on transformation from the inside out.

And by embracing humility, love, and surrender, we align with God’s wisdom that brings lasting change.

It's possible guys.

Let us, as the body, as believers, and as followers of Christ, walk in the love, humility, and peace that Jesus modeled, knowing that His way is always the better way.

And if you are already participating in activism, justice or protests from the place of agape, you've already won – if you understand what I'm saying.

"He who has an ear to hear, let him hear."

5 Prayer Points for the Body in this hour:

1. Pray for Rawiri to encounter the God of Nations (Yahweh)

2. Pray for David Seymour, a Saul to Paul transformation

3. Pray for the pioneers, the hidden ones, the unassuming ones being prepared and positioned to usher in the restoration of covenant and Maori culture in our nation. Pray that they would receive strategy, wisdom and courage to walk out their part in this.

4. Pray for the people of NZ to discern the tree they're eating from, and to seek Gods transcending way. Pray that they would discern the prince of the power of the air (Eph 2:2), and discern not just right form wrong, but right from almost right.

5. Pray for those who might be fractured by this current attempt, and that their sorrow would be a godly one that leads to reverence for the God of nations.

This is one of the greatest hours to be alive for Christ. And God’s redemptive plan for the Maori and NZ is a beautifully redemptive one.

We have been given the ministry of reconciliation, not retribution, not retaliation, and we get to partner with Him in seeing His good will on earth as it is in heaven.

  • Some of you are called to the government space, to bring peace, strategy, and wisdom to chambers of our nation.

  • Some of you are called to systems of justice, and to be a person of activism from the place of Agape.

  • Some of you are called to be immersed in Maori specific areas, to have you feet and presence on the lands, in the maraes, being agape in those places.

  • Some of you are called to simply pray, to intercede for the nation, and to be a person of peace that continues to point people back to the kingdom way.

  • Some of you–in fact, all of us–are called to simply love our neighbor, no matter who they are: their color, their culture, their community. And by doing so, we get to see hearts transformed by agape, which naturally flows into every area of life. And thats how we heal our land – by healing hearts, through agape.

While many are focusing on the prophesied last days of doom and deception, do not forget about the prophesied last days outpouring of His spirit and the victory that Christ has already won for us.

God does defend NZ

I love you guys.

I'm praying for you guys.

Jesus is King.

"When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with sword in hand.

Joshua went up to him and demanded, “Are you for us or against us?

“Neither,” he replied. “I am the commander of the LORD’s army.”

At this, Joshua fell with his face to the ground in reverence. "I am at your command", Joshua said. “Tell me what to do.” – Joshua 5:13-14

Bless you,

Lee
