Last night, I had a dream.
In it, I experienced an earthquake—one that was big but not damaging, frightening but not destructive. It left me unsettled, but not in despair—there was peace in the scare.
I woke up early and spent time with the Father, seeking how to respond.
Then later this morning, I opened my inbox to find a message from a trusted friend, Selwyn Stevens.
Here's what he shared:
Hi Lee,
Attention Kiwis (& others as it applies)
This evening [Tuesday 1 April] I was contacted by a prophetic person I have known personally since the mid-1980s. I can attest to their accuracy over that period of time. They shared this Word with me, and it's very similar to other Words I've heard this year from others. So please pay attention, there are likely to be consequences.
"1 April 2025
I have an overwhelming sense that New Zealand is in danger. Something is coming. It’s like a wave. It’s enormous. I feel fear. I am aghast, but at the same time I feel safe. This is the last chance for New Zealand to turn to Yeshua. This disaster, for I feel it is that, is edging ever closer. I need to warn the people. How many will listen? Show me what to do Lord. Prepare, my people.
Ensure your foundations are firm, for what is coming will surely test their integrity. If your house has its foundations on sand it will not endure. Those who have built on solid rock will prevail. Do not look to worldly resolutions for there will be none. Chaos will ensue. I, the Lord will have the only answers. Those who remain in me, and those who turn to me wholeheartedly will be kept in safety.
Those outside the boundaries of my redeeming love will be at the mercy of the elements. Turn to me; come close. I will not shout above the wind. My voice will be a gentle whisper that only those who are near will hear. Do not fear for I will lead you and direct you. I am the map so listen carefully and follow closely as there will be many opportunities to take a wrong turn."
Ezekiel 33:6 "But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet to warn the people and the sword comes and takes someone's life, that persons life will be taken because of their sin, but I will hold the watchman accountable for their sin." Blessings
Selwyn
Naturally, this got my attention, and I took it as a nudge to keep my eyes open—I thought it helpful to share with you too.
How Do We Respond?
It’s easy to let messages like this stir up fear or uncertainty—and I understand some parts of it can seem that way—but let me be clear:
This is not a call to panic—it’s a call to alignment.
This is not an invitation to fear—it’s an invitation to intimacy.
This is not about survival mode—it’s about sonship.
As sons and daughters of God, we are always meant to be in a posture of trust, intimacy, and response to Him, irrespective of the happenings around us.
A shaking may come, but those who dwell in Him will not be shaken.
Is This a Spiritual or Physical Shaking?
I don’t fully know yet. This could be a spiritual shaking, a physical one, or both. Wisdom suggests being prepared for both.
What I do know is that God is calling us to be aware, aligned, and anchored in Him.
On a practical level, New Zealand is an earthquake-prone nation. You don’t have to be prophetic to know that having some level of preparation is simply wisdom. Basic provisions and a plan aren’t fear—they’re stewardship.
Likewise, spiritual preparation is never wasted. If the shaking is spiritual, those rooted in Christ will stand firm while others may be swept away by confusion and chaos.
A divide in Christianity?
I do believe we are in a time of revealing—a call to deeper maturity.
We saw global division during COVID, national division over the Treaty, and soon, we may see a clearer divide within Christianity—not between believers and unbelievers, but between sons who walk in intimacy and those who resist maturity.
This won’t be a battle as the world fights, but a revealing. As pressures rise, the difference between true sonship and religious mindsets will become evident.
Mature sons walk in the Father’s love, carry His authority, and live in His goodness. They lay down their lives for others and call people higher. But not all will accept this invitation—some will resist, even with hostility, just as religious leaders opposed Jesus.
Yet, the call remains: to step into the fullness of sonship and invite others to do the same. Those with ears to hear will hear.
Preparation in both areas is wisdom.
A wise man builds his house before the storm, not in it. (Matt 7:24)
A storm doesn’t destroy a house because the storm is strong—but because the foundation is weak. The time to build is before the shaking, not during it. If we wait until we’re in the middle of the storm to establish our faith, it may be too late.
Now is the time to become unshakable in Him.
Practical Steps to Steward This Well
Whether or not anything major happens, living wisely is never wasted. Here’s how we prepare in faith, not fear:
Spiritually – Stay close to Him. Know His voice. Ask Him how you can respond in this time. It may be to take massive action, it may be to go about life as normal, or it may be a simple nudge to freely follow your conscience.
Emotionally – Be anchored in His peace. Fear is never the right response.
Practically – Steward well. Have basic preparedness (food, water, supplies) as a form of wisdom, not panic. 3 days minimum supplies, and communicating where you will be each day is a helpful practice. The NZ Home Emergency Checklist website can be found here.
Daily Readiness – Make the most of each day. Love well, live purposefully, and don’t waste the time we’ve been given.
Intercession – Pray for our nation and one another. Lay your life down like Jesus, in the sense of letting your life become a flowing place for agape. If a shaking is coming, let it bring revival, not ruin.
I'm personally praying for peace to the land, just as Jesus declared peace to the storm. Sure, an actual earthquake can wake people up, but that’s not God's preference nor design.
His design has always been to awaken hearts through His goodness, truth, and the leading of His Spirit—not through destruction. Jesus awakened hearts through extending life—not sending destruction. Instead, Jesus took on the destruction due to us so we could have peace.
If destruction were God’s design to wake people up, we would have seen mass repentance and a turning to Him after past disasters. But instead, many responded with anger, confusion, or even turned their fists at God.
"It's the goodness of God that leads man to repentance." (Romans 2:4)
Final Thought: The Kingdom is Never in Crisis
Whether the shaking is physical or spiritual, we do not fear because we are in Him. The safest place to be is not in a well-stocked bunker, but in alignment with Him.
So, I share this not to create fear, but to remind us of the greater reality: Hope, peace, and security in Him.
If we remain in Him, we will always be exactly where we need to be.
God is a restorer not destroyer
Some may be quick to label things like this as God’s destruction, blurring the lines between sin’s consequences, a fallen world, and the enemy’s schemes.
But destruction is not God’s nature.
For example: God’s discipline is always restorative, never destructive. Sin brings its own consequences (Rom 6:23), it's not God's doing.
This is important because if you see God as the source destruction, you put yourself in a much worse position.
You end up labeling the Restorer as the destroyer, which leads to passivity instead of resistance. The real enemy gets away with his work because we haven’t rightly understood our position in Christ or God’s good nature.
But when you see God as He truly is, you can respond most effectively.
We determine the condition
I’ve mentioned before that the state of a nation reflects the spiritual condition of its people. And one of the greatest spiritual hindrances is when God’s own children view Him incorrectly—veiwing the Restorer as the destroyer.
Scripture is clear: “God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all” (1 John 1:5). Jesus never attributed evil to the Father, yet many do, introducing darkness into God’s nature, thus misrepresenting Him to the world—and that creates massive problems. Read more here.
I am convinced this is a key reason for our nation’s current state. We haven't yet understood that our Father is only and fully light, which causes us to distort His nature, and it directly impacts our personal faith and the broader spiritual climate.
This is why I create content—to call us into maturity and help us see God rightly. Because how we see Him affects everything else, including our nation.
It's starts with us and how we see the Father.
"The eye is the lamp of the body. If your eyes are good, your whole body will be full of light." (Matt 6:22)
Creation is waiting for mature sons
"All creation is waiting for the revealing of mature sons." (Rom 8:19)
Creation is not waiting for the rapture, revival, or the right government leadership. It’s waiting for the revealing of mature sons and daughters of God—you and me—to arise. To step into our full identity. To carry the nature of the Father. And to be His voice, His hands, and His heart.
This is what the world needs. And this brings it back to our personal journey with Him.
It’s not enough to know about Him—we must truly know Him through Jesus. Not through Abraham, Moses, Job, the prophets, or even our experiences—only Jesus. He is the only One who can accurately reveal the true nature of God (John 14:9). And He is fully and only good. Read more here.
So let’s refrain from pointing fingers at people, government leaders, Christian leaders, or even God. Instead, let’s partner with Him to bring heaven on earth, just as Jesus taught us to pray.
God does defend NZ—let's align with Him in it.
Bless you,
Lee
