Last week we woke up to this message…

There are many things I could say about this, but here's the first thing that comes to mind.
Financial security is a term from mammon.
In the kingdom, our security is in Him entirely.
When we hold finances as our means for security, we hinder our ability to fully receive what He always wanted to freely give us.
In mammon, we’re often taught to pursue financial security and freedom.
This can include working jobs we hate, having a business we’re not designed for, saving meticulously, making financially-driven (not necessarily kingdom-driven) choices, etc.
And it often comes with an array of negative trade-offs: missed family time, poor health, loss of relationships, stress, ego, etc.
But in the kingdom, you’re already free and secure in Him.
Now your journey is about becoming more like Him and “doing what I see My Father doing” (Jn 5:19) – like Jesus did. For some, your journey will then lead you to starting a business, saving, investing, etc, but it is driven from a completely different place of already being free and secure – you’re not trying to chase it.
This sounds impractical to those who are deeply rooted in mammon – trust me, I’ve been there. And yet there are people out here who are genuinely experiencing and living in this kingdom reality – without the hype.
I know this because we’ve spent the last two years intentionally detaching from mammon and its patterns – it’s been painfully good.
It’s not comfortable nor easy – that’s probably why not everybody is living it – and neither can it be manufactured. But boy is it worth it.
Part of detaching means letting go of fear, control, the lies or accusations you hold against God’s good nature, and facing the “junk in your trunk.”
As you do, those things that once blocked you are removed, and now His goodness can flow more freely and fully towards you.
The image above of somebody randomly wanting to pay for our mortgage for a month is just one example of His goodness flowing freely towards us.
We didn’t strive for it, ask for it, or even pray for it. It's deeper than that – a convo for another time.
Instead, we’ve come to settle into this kingdom reality, knowing that it’s our good Father’s pleasure to give us the kingdom, and that we’re already fully secure and free in Him.
So now we live from rest in these truths, and simply enjoy our journey of maturity and becoming more like Christ, knowing that the Good Shepherd actually watches over us and cares for us along the way – without the hype.
But it took intentionality to settle in this.
You know those trust fall exercises you do for team building? Where someone falls and the team catch them? Yeah, many people want God to catch them, but they’re not willing to fall (trust). I’ve never seen God fail to catch someone. But I have seen many unwilling to fall. It’s possible.
Your good Father takes care of His children.
Let Him show you how faithful He is. “You cannot serve both God and mammon. For you will be devoted to one and despise the other.” (Matt 6:24)
Oh, and they decided to bless us with 3 months instead of one.

Thankful for good godly people who let His love flow through them like this. Stuff like this has happened for us many times over the last two years – and it will only get better. “Surely goodness will follow me ALL THE DAYS OF MY LIFE” (Ps 23:6). Not some days, all days.
Questions for reflection:
1. Are there any areas of my life that are currently devoted to mammon?
2. Is there any fear, control or accusation that I'm holding against God's goodness?
3. What is a current situation where I know that I need to fall and trust Him to catch me?
Bless you,
Lee
