16 months ago I stopped praying to God to fix my problems… and they started to get fixed.
A bit of context before I explain it…
Last month, I received an email from someone who was feeling exactly like I used to: stuck, frustrated and exhausted in their journey, despite doing all the "right" things.
He was doing all the “warfare” but it left him more burnt out than uplifted.
And it’s not his fault.
For so long, we’ve been taught to “warfare, warfare, warfare” and how to fight our battles. And it's not illegal, you're allowed to do that.
But many of us have never learned how to live and do it from a place of victory. It’s exhausting when we try to force solutions, and it often feels like nothing changes. We, the Body, haven't always shown others the way to live in rest.
But there’s a better way.
If this resonates with you, there are a 3 ways you can hear the rest of the message:

In 2023 I began to notice recurring problems and my reactions to problems.
Every time a new challenge popped up, I found myself anxious, worried, and mentally drained.
On the outside it might have looked like I had it together. I’d say the right prayers, do the spiritual warfare, quote the right scriptures.
But the truth?
Internally, I was worn out. Especially when, despite all my efforts, nothing seemed to change. It left me wondering if I was doing something wrong.
I just wanted peace – real peace, without the hype.
I didn’t want to worry, stress, or strive anymore. I longed to live in the rest that Jesus promised us, but I didn’t know how.
And then I hit a wall.
So here I was in 2023, sitting in my car, completely frustrated, tired, and even angry at God. That was new for me – I’d never felt anger toward God before, and I knew something had to change.
It wasn’t Him.
It was my thinking that was off.
That’s when I stumbled across a podcast by Graham Cooke. He talked about feeling stuck and a conversation he had with God about it. It went something like this…
Graham:“God, why do I feel stuck?”
God:“Graham, stuck is not a concept of the kingdom, it is a concept of the world. I am never stuck.”
Graham: “Then can you explain my current experience of feeling stuck?”
God: “What if you're not stuck? What if I have pushed the pause button on your journey, and inviting you into a deeper conversation with Me that is going to benefit the next step in your journey?”That was all I needed to hear.
It resonated so deeply with me. It felt like Graham was speaking directly to my situation.
So I put a plan in place to help me the next time I hit a problem or obstacle:
Be still
Receive God’s love
Seek His perspective and strategy
I started practicing this, and wow – things shifted.
Sure, there were moments when I forgot and let my emotions take over. There were times when I wondered, "Is it really this simple?"
But every time, I’d come back to stillness, surrender, and trust.
And the results?
I experienced peace in ways I’d never known before. I started hearing God’s voice more clearly, and the situations I was worried about began to shift – sometimes without me even praying about them.
I simply rested in Him, and He did the fixing.
I no longer asked God to come into my problems. Instead, I learned to position myself to be with God, and together we look at the problem, and He shares His wisdom with how we can make it work out for my good.
My problems no longer challenge God's promises like they used to. Instead, God promises challenge my problems.
Now, I enjoy a constant peace – the light and easy yoke Jesus talked about has become my reality.
And today, I help my clients live in this same freedom.
Like Ryan, who was at Auckland International airport about to fly to Europe but forgot his passport back in Wellington.
Panic, worry and fear all kicked in.
But he knew to do these 3 steps: be still, receive His love, and trust that God would work it out.
So there he was in Auckland airport, being still, receiving Gods love, and receiving His wisdom on the matter.
Long story short:the International flight got delayed, his passport got flown up from Wellington by a hostess friend, he made his flight, and even got upgraded to business class.
You can't script this.

It could have easily turned to custard had he given into the panic. Instead, he let go and let God.
And it's not so much the outcome that impresses me most. It's the fact that he could be in the storm and still remain in peace.
That is where true maturity and power is revealed, it can't be manufactured.
Again, here are the 3 simple steps:
1. Be still
2. Let go and receive His love
3. Get His perspective
Bless you,
Lee
