Yesterday I had a one-off Goodness Call with someone from Indonesia.
They came into the call carrying years of fear, confusion, and a sense of being lost with God. Years of ministry and doing “the right Christian things”—yet still feeling empty and unsure.
But they left the call with a big smile—full of hope, clarity, and peace.
The different emotions they went through during the call was beautiful to watch: tears, pain, laughter, relief, and that stunned silence people get when something finally clicks.
Clarity is often the difference between feeling abandoned by God and realizing He never left.
This call showed me again how deeply performance Christianity has shaped so many of us.
Most people aren’t stuck because they’re unwilling. They’re stuck because they’re confused.
And confusion is almost impossible to spot when it hides behind Christian language. It becomes stealth-like and even more fortified against the person carrying it—the perfect recipe for torment.
When Religion Gets Loud
Jesus said His yoke is easy, but religion often teaches us to drag a boulder uphill and call it faithfulness.
It also made me reflect on the religious opposition I get for coaching. The accusations, slander, and the classic line: “You should be coaching for free!”—I've written about it here.
But here’s the irony:
Those who shout the loudest about “free coaching” are often the same ones who walk right past the weary without lifting a finger.
This person shared that past Christian sessions left them heavier—judged, pressured, “not enough.”
Yet one hour together untangled decades of unnecessary pain—not from more effort, but from clarity.
Clarity Breaks What Pressure Builds
"The greatest threat to faith is not doubt, but confusion." — Dallas willard
Most believers don’t need more truth—they need to see the truth they already carry.
Sometimes the most spiritual thing you can give someone is understanding, not information.
As I shared what I believed God was walking this individual through, they suddenly remembered a prophetic word from five years ago—one they had never understood.
Yet here we were—five years to the exact date—unpacking that same word without me even knowing it existed.
It was like watching a lock and key finally meet.
The relief on their face said everything: the weight lifting, the peace returning, and the quiet, “Oh… I’m not broken, I'm not lost, I’m exactly where God is leading me.”
Even mature believers hit moments where clarity disappears. It’s never a sign of failure—only an invitation to see the Father more clearly.
Keep it Simple
The simple gospel and the compassion of Jesus do something religion and performance Christianity never can.
At the end of the day, it’s not about having flawless theology—it’s about helping people see the Father clearly again.
Clarity doesn’t just comfort you—it moves you forward. And the moment clarity returns, everything changes.
It did yesterday.
And it can for anyone ready to move forward.
You can always trust His heart—even when you cannot trace His hand.
Questions for reflection
1. Where have I been carrying pressure or confusion that may actually be an invitation to see the Father more clearly?
2. What truth have I already been given that I haven’t yet recognised or understood—just like that old prophetic word?
3. If clarity really is the doorway to momentum, what part of my journey is asking for light rather than effort?
Practical to Consider
Take 10 quiet minutes today to sit with God and ask: “Father, what are You already doing in me that I haven’t been seeing clearly?”
Write down whatever rises without filtering, fixing, or trying to be “right.” Let clarity come gently—like a light being switched on, not a burden added.
Bless you,
Lee
